More Details
This book is listed as #1 in the "The Holodomor: Occasional Papers Series" and consists of a reproduction of the typescript of a talk Raphael Lemkin gave in 1953 about the Soviet genocide in the Ukraine in the 1930s, as well as a foreword by Douglas Irvin-Erickson, a scholar, who at the time of the publication of the book, is described as a PhD candidate at Rutgers working on a dissertation on the life and works of Mr. Lemkin. The reproduction of the typescript of the speech is followed by a transcript of the speech, which is then followed by the speech translated into Ukrainian. In Mr. Irvin-Erickson's words: "Lemkin is now famous for coining the word "genocide," which appeared in his 1944 magnum opus, "Axis Rule in Occupied Europe," and for leading a campaign at the United Nations to outlaw genocide."
