The Prairie Thief takes place in a simpler, by-gone era where little creatures called Brownies live under the walnut groves and communicate with the farm animals and the coyotes. The trouble starts when our heroine, Louisa, is left in the hands of the villainous Smirches, who have accused Louisa's father of stealing from them. Pa is dragged off to jail, and Louisa must find a way to prove him innocent. With the help of another charming little girl named Jessamine and a cranky old Brownie named Angus MacClellan Steely O'Gorsebush, anything is possible!

This wonderful novel is filled with whimsical twists and turns and a cast of truly lovable characters.
